Beneath a Stone

The world we live in as we await the Savior

Sometimes I write lyrics and get other people to sing them.

Beneath a Stone

As I lay upon my bed
Drumming sounded in my head
Soldiers marching double time
Coming in an endless line
In the distance lions roared
Then a shaking of the floor
It’s just a dream my lover said
Awake I sat in silent dread

Chorus
It’s just another dream she said
Lie down and rest your weary head
But the dream lives on in our blood and bone
Even when we lay beneath a stone

The dreams they come more often now
The voices they are growing loud
Horsemen coming four abreast
Lightning flashes east to west
The sound of sharpening stones on steel
The grinding clank of iron clad wheels
Across the field by end of day
Bodies in the thousands lay

Chorus
It's just another dream she said
Lie down and rest your weary head
But the dream lives on in our blood and bone
Even when we lay beneath a stone

What treasure were they fighting for?
Was it better than they had before?
Our fathers had these dreams they say
As far back as forgotten days
And all our mothers soothed the brow
Of the dreaming beast when they heard it growl

Chorus
It's just another dream they said
Lie down and rest your weary head
But the dream lived on in their blood and bone
Even when they lay beneath a stone

Half Chorus
But the dream lived on in their blood and bone
As they lay beneath a stone
Yes the dream lives on in their blood and bone
As they lay beneath a stone
